The Howard County Department of Fire and Rescue Services responded to the blaze on the 11500 block of Shell Flower Lane in Columbia around 7:30 p.m. March 20.
Crews found heavy flames coming from the second story and brought the fire under control in about 20 minutes.
The HCDFRS confirmed Thursday morning that Katie Chase, 15, had died in the fire, and its cause was accidental. Two others, meanwhile, were taken to the hospital for evaluation.
The family was being assisted by the Red Cross, the department added.
